It is hoped that people will go on and take further training with either the I.A.M. or R.O.S.P.A and it may allay peoples fears about taking the advanced test when they see the examiners are not ogres with two heads.

Here is an article about just one of Cleveland Police's successful young riders they have trainied:

Chris McReddie of Guisborough, Cleveland is 17yrs old and rides an Aprilia 125, he passed his test about 3 to four months prior to attending one of our observed rides encouraged by his dad who is an instructor with the local Cleveland Advanced Motorcyclists Group.

He showed good ability and we pressed for him to go for his Advanced rider qualification. Anyway a short while later I recieved a test application through my door (I am the local examiner for the Institute of Advanced Motorists) from Chris.

He took the test and passed easily giving an excellent display of Advanced Riding. Not content with resting on his laurels he then sat and passed at Gold Level the R.O.S.P.A. Advanced riding test. Quite an achievment for someone who is still only 17 and only passed his test a few months earlier, maybe the fact that his dad promised to pay for his petrol for a year if he passed both tests had something to do with it.

Chris is now training to be an observer with Cleveland Advanced Motorcyclists so he can help other young riders pass thier tests.

I would be interested to know from any of your other contributors if they know of anyone else who has achieved this feat at such a young age as I believe he may well be the youngest in the country to complete both Advanced tests.

This is, I believe what Bikesafe is all about catching them young and Chris is a shining example.
