The BikeSafe Course in Cambridgeshire
This is a course which includes 3, 2 hour classroom sessions. There is then an assessed ride on a one to one basis with a comprehensive debrief.
At Peterborough included in the course is a copy of Motorcycle Roadcraft and a copy of the Highway Code.
There is a small charge for the Course at Peterborough of £35.00
which covers the administration
costs, a copy of Roadcraft, and the Highway Code.
Course Schedule
The courses
follow the same structure for each set of dates, that is
Week 1
An Intorduction,
followed by an introduction into the Police Standards of Riding as contained
in Motorcycle Road Craft.
This includes Attitudes to riding and how they affect your riding
Week 2
This continues
from week 1 and concentrates on cornering and the Police System of Motorcycle
Control.
Week 3
Develops
week 2 and covers overtaking and group riding.
The Assessment
Ride
This is
normally done on the weekend following week 3, there will be a briefing
as to what we expect before we go out onto the road.
Initially the Police Motorcyclist will lead to give the assessed rider
the opportunity of seeing the System in action,
then the assessed rider will take over.
The assessed ride at Peterborough covers about 35 miles and takes into
account all types of road except Motorway. This ride will take about
1 hour to complete. On completion of the course there will be a certificate
issued to state that the person has completed the course.
The dates of the 'BIKERS, Enhance your Riders Skills' courses running
for the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire areas are currently being finalised
for 2007. Please check back here again., as soon as we have have dates
for the Cambridge courses they will be added to the website.
