Welcome to the Surrey BikeSafe web pages.
The aim of our Rider Skills Days are to reduce motorcycle casualties, enhance your skill levels and be enjoyable. The days will be staffed by operational Advanced Police Class 1 motorcyclists with assistance from accredited IAM and RoSPA observers.
Who can attend? You need to hold a Category A (or A2) licence and, if you've only just passed your test, we suggest getting a few months experience before coming to us. Bikesafe is not aimed at those who have already passed an advanced test however all motorcyclists are welcome.
What bike do I need? Either a) a 'large' motorcycle or b) a 'restricted' bike of no more than 25kW (33bhp) power output. BikeSafe isn't suitable for mopeds or 125cc learner bikes. Apart from that, provided your bike is roadworthy, we don't care how old it is, how much it cost or what country it was made in!
The day starts at 9am and finishes no later than 5pm. There will normally be space for a total of 12 riders per event.
The format of the day is a brief presentation on motorcycle roadcraft followed by a number of observed road runs. The ratio of observer to riders will normally be 1 to 2.
The aim is to be as practical as possible; we will take into account your level of experience, aims and wishes. The cost will be £50.00 per person. This will include lunch and a copy of 'Motorcycle Roadcraft' (the police manual).
Our events take place annually between March and October;
