ROADcraft Better Riding Courses 

On an average day in Gloucestershire 7 people are injured in road accidents, that is equivalent to one injury for every mile of road in this county each year.

95% of these accidents could have been prevented by an overall improvement in driving standards.

AIM

The course is aimed at full licence holders, it is designed to enhance existing skills and will act as an introduction to Advanced riding.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD RIDER?

  • A good level of attention
  • Accurate observation
  • Matching the vehicle's speed and direction to the situation
  • Awareneness of risks inherent in particular road and traffic situations.
  • Acting of their own limitations and those of the vehicle on the roads
  • Skillful use of controls

PRESS RELEASE

Following the request from Cpl.Mark Wheeler, RAF Police at RAF Innsworth, Gloucester a Bikesafe Rider Awareness day was held on Wednesday 26th June.
16 riders attended and were given a theory presentation in the morning and after lunch went out for assessed rides with Police Class 1 riders.

 

COURSE INFORMATION


Gloucestershire Constabulary and Gloucestershire County Council are working in partnership to offer motorcyclists rider improvement courses.

As in previous years, they will consist of two Sundays, held at the Gloucestershire Club, Sandhurst Road, Gloucester.

The first Sunday will be classroom based & we will be running through the Police riders handbook, "Motorcycle Roadcraft", a copy of which is included in the course fee. We also include a copy of the latest Highway Code, & a few other goodies.

On the second Sunday we again meet at the Gloucestershire Club, but go out onto the road to put into practice what we discussed on the first day.

The Course fee this year is £48, which includes mid-morning tea/coffee on day 1, & a buffet lunch on both days.
