GREAT
ROADS Come and join us on a BikeSafe Workshop |

I have held a full motorcycle licence for over 16 years, but like most people have become a 'Born Again Biker' on at least a couple of occasions due to family and financial commitments. I am an Operational Police Motorcyclist and have served with Gwent Police for 13 years. I became the Force's BikeSafe Co-ordinator because I could personally relate to many riders' circumstances and appreciate how easy it is to become 'de-skilled' following even the shortest period out of the saddle. Having undertaken lengthy and extensive police motorcycling courses, I suddenly realised that I was not as good as I thought, and had developed many bad habits. BikeSafe aims to address issues such as these... benefiting riders of all ages, regardless of experience. I am a keen motorcyclist both socially and professionally, regularly going on biking weekends both in this country and abroad. I fully understand the immense pleasure people experience regardless of what they ride, or where they ride it. Our aim on the Gwent BikeSafe weekend workshops is to improve rider skills and confidence in a friendly and enjoyable way... and take a great deal of personal pride in seeing the huge improvements made by the participants in such a short period of time. Due to the fact that there are only a small number of police motorcyclists in Gwent, we have to limit the number of spaces per weekend to a maximum of 14. Finally, I would strongly recommend BikeSafe courses as they are exceptional value for money, informative, yet still great fun and are run by motorcyclists for motorcyclists.
