Welcome to Essex Police Bike Safe.
The Essex Police Bike Safe scheme is run from our Operational Support base at South Woodham Ferrers, near Chelmsford.
What can you expect from the day?
We hold Bike Safe workshops on Sundays throughout the summer season. The day starts at 8:30am with a check over your bike and documents, before you go in to a theory session. The classroom theory involves participation rather than front loading information and covers all of the important subject areas.
At the end of the theory session you will be introduced to your observer who will give you a briefing regarding your on road session. There will be 2 riders to each observer and we will try and pair you with someone of similar riding experience or ability so that you get the best out of the day.
Your observer will then take you out on to the road session, and will stop regularly to provide you with feedback about your riding.
Everyone meets at a local Café for Lunch which is included in the price. If you can still move after the huge lunch they provide then we start the second on road session at 2pm!
Everyone meets back at South Woodham Ferrers for a debrief before receiving some motorcycle goodies and your rider development form.
What will I get out of it?
For a start a great day, everyone enjoys their day out; it is very relaxed and informal.
Your observer will advise you as to whether you would benefit from enhanced or post test training and you will be given details of training providers
If you are currently riding in a way that is putting you or others in danger then we can point that out for you straight away.
You will leave with a better understanding of your riding ability
