Lincolnshire BikeSafe

Lincolnshire BikeSafe is delivered by serving operational officers from the county’s Roads Policing Unit, all of whom share a genuine passion for motorcycling and road safety. We welcome riders of all abilities – whether you’re completely new to motorcycling, returning after a break, or an experienced rider looking for a refresher and the chance to further develop your skills. Everyone is welcome.

On the day, officers are supported by highly skilled volunteers from IAM and ROSPA, all of whom are advanced riders delivering a standardised, nationally recognised package. Together, our officers and volunteers bring a wealth of experience, including operational policing, collision investigation, advanced riding, and VIP escorting.

Our aim is to make the day informative, practical, and enjoyable, while giving you a strong foundation to help advance your riding. We actively encourage participation during the classroom session, working to create an inclusive, relaxed atmosphere where barriers are broken down. By the end of the day, we want riders, volunteers, and officers chatting openly in a friendly and supportive environment. There is no pressure on any rider – BikeSafe is about learning, confidence, and enjoyment.

On the day

Please attend Witham House, The Pelham Centre, Lincoln, LN5 8HE

As you enter the car park, you’ll see a ramp on the right-hand side – follow this ramp to the correct parking area.

Before starting BikeSafe, you’ll be asked to sign a disclaimer form. This confirms that you hold the appropriate motorcycle licence, insurance, and MOT, that your motorcycle is mechanically sound, and that you are fit and able to take part.

We ask all participants to arrive promptly by 08:45, allowing everyone to be seated and ready to begin.

At 09:00, the day starts with a classroom presentation following the BikeSafe curriculum. This session lasts approximately two hours and focuses on corners and junctions, which account for the majority of motorcycle collisions within Lincolnshire. Following the presentation, you’ll be allocated an observer – either a Police officer or an IAM/ROSPA volunteer – before heading out on an observed ride on Lincolnshire roads. The group will reconvene at around 13:30 for a short break at a designated café, where food and drinks can be purchased. The second part of the observed ride will then take place, with all riders returning to Witham House by approximately 15:30.

A group debrief will follow, allowing feedback to be shared both ways, before the day concludes at around 16:00, when you’ll be wished a safe journey home. You will receive a Certificate of Attendance by email 7 days after completing your workshop.
